Sightseeing Tour

Tour Details

Travel by private coach or train, with transfers. 

All tours and hotels are subject to availability at the time of booking.

Tokyo

Free time on day of arrival, and day before departure, to explore parts of the city.

Accommodation is in the heart of Tokyo, a few minutes' walk from Shinjuku station, the busiest commuter train station in Japan and a major business, shopping and entertainment center in Tokyo. Upwards of 3 million people every day ride the incredibly clean, efficient and convenient metro system through Shinjuku.

Matsumoto

Matsumoto is at the base of the beautiful Japanese Alps.  It is home to Matsumoto Castle, various festivals, Dr Suzuki's memorial, the Talent Education Research Institute, parks, museums, and the Suzuki Summer School in August.

The Conference is 5 days from March 27 to March 31, 2013.

Optional add-on tours

Before and/or after the Summer School, embark on tours of Tokyo, Kamakura, Yokohama, Kyoto, and Nara. Any extra tours can be booked individually or in groups for each participant and will be led by English-speaking tour guides. All tours and hotels are subject to availability at the time of booking

Tokyo

Chartered bus tours of the capital city include visits districts such as: 

Asakusa, home to Buddhist and Shinto temples and numerous festivals; Harajuku, shopping district and center of unique street fashion; and Akihabara, also known as "Electric Town", a major shopping area for the latest electronics

Kamakura

This popular tourist destination is 30 miles southwest of Tokyo. It boasts a large number of centuries-old beautiful temples, shrines and walkways. 

Yokohama

Just south of Tokyo, this major commercial port has vibrant shopping including Japan's largest Chinatown.

Kyoto

Sightseeing in the former imperial capital includes:

  • Kiyomizu Temple, perched high on terraces 
  • Heian Shrine with its stunning gardens and buildings
  • Old Imperial Palace with the whispering "Nightingale Floor" and beautiful architecture
  • Golden Pavilion 
In your free time, explore the Kyoto Handicrafts Center, the traditional geisha district of Gion, many other historic one-of-a-kind temples and shrines. 
Optional additional night tour of the restaurant and historic areas available (cost not included).

Nara

This city is celebrating its 1300th anniversary in 2010. It is home to some of the country's oldest and largest temples and park areas.
